Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has ordered judicial inquiry into the tragic incident of brawl between two groups in Rawalpindi. He said that strict action will be taken as per law against the persons involved in violence. The Chief Minister requested the Chief Justice Lahore High Court to hold judicial inquiry has into the incident so that the responsibility could be fixed and the elements be awarded deterrent punishment as per law.
In a statement here today, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif expressed his heartfelt sorrow over the loss of precious human lives in the tragic incident of Rawalpindi. Expressing sympathies with the bereaved families, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the blood of deceased persons will not go waste. He assured that the murderers will be brought to condign justice. He said that implementation on the law would be ensured at all costs and the elements creating lawlessness will be brought to justice.
The Chief Minister said that law and order situation has remained satisfactory throughout the province during Ashra-e-Muharram, however, the tragic incident happened in Rawalpindi destroyed peace of the city and few precious lives were lost due to hooliganism between two groups. The Chief Minister appealed to the people to remain peaceful and maintain the atmosphere of brotherhood and public peace. He assured the people that the persons involved in this incident will be awarded deterrent punishment.
Shahbaz Sharif directed police officers to further enhance security in their respective areas and also depute police officials in plain clothes at public places. He said that ban on provocative speeches and illegal use of loudspeakers should be implemented strictly. He said that police officers should remain in touch with ulema and take all necessary measures for maintaining peaceful atmosphere with their consultation.
The Chief Minister prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed souls of Rawalpindi incident in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
