Ex-servicemen blast over Ameer JI Munawar Hasan

Lt-Gen-Ali-Kuli-KhanRawalpindi : The Pakistan Ex-servicemen Association (PESA) on Monday condemned in strongest possible words the statement of Amir of Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Syed Munawar Hassan, who called the dead terrorists as shaheeds and denying that status to thousands of citizens and soldiers who lost their lives at their hands.

The remarks of Syed Munawar Hassan are not only condemnable but treacherous; his statement actually strengthens hands of Pakistan’s enemies, said former military leaders in a meeting with President PESA Lt. Gen. (Retd) Ali Kuli Khan in chair.

His statement that how those helping the Americans fighting in Afghanistan could be called martyrs is absolutely irrelevant and misleading as no Pakistani soldier is fighting American’s war in Afghanistan, they observed.

How could fighting against TTP be called America’s war when their leader is sitting in comfort under their protection in Afghanistan, they questioned.

This statement is clearly meant to strengthen enemies of Pakistan, demoralize and malign Pakistani troops who are fighting seemingly an unending war to save the country.

By rubbing salt into the wounds of families of thousands of servicemen and civilians killed in terrorist attacks, Syed Munawar Hassan has made himself liable for trial under Article 63 (1)(g) of the Constitution of Pakistan. PESA fully supports the statement issued by ISPR.

Vice Admiral Ahmad Tasnim, Lt. Gen Naeem Akbar, former ambassador Salim Nawaz Gandapur, Brig Mian Mahmud, Brig. Riaz Ahmed, Brig. Masud ul Hassan, Major Farouk Hamid Khan, and others were present in the meeting.
