LWMC has focused Shahdara for cleanup operation

Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has focused Shahdara for cleanup operation and mass awareness drive in days to come. The company has launched a week long operational and awareness campaign starting from 9 November that will include school and college based awareness sessions and lectures, door stepping, community corner meetings, display of awareness messages in far and wide of the area and clearance of 100 plots in the next week.

On Saturday, LWMC deployed 6 teams of workers which included sanitary workers, inspectors, motor vehicle inspectors, zonal officers and Assistant Manager and Managers Operations to supervise the ongoing work of area cleaning. Other than manual operations some 6 loaders, 13 dumpers and 4 mechanical sweepers are also dedicated for Shahdara for this campaign.

Some 350 workers are assigned the area clean up task in next week on day night basis. The operation is being monitored live by android gadgets and all pictures are being posted on PITB web portal on hourly basis in order to ensure transparency.

Simultaneously, plot clearance is going on in rest of 8 towns in the city. Major operations were carried out in Aziz Bhatti Town, Wahga Town and Shalimar Town where 110 total plots were cleared of solid waste and some 2100 tons of waste was removed.

Moreover LWMC mobilization teams are also visiting communities and awareness pamphlets are being distributed among people besides verbal briefing and corner meetings. Company’s helpline 1139 has been put on alert and citizens are requested to get their nearby plots cleaned in their own supervision before winter rains are started.
