Government hospitals to get information from the dengue patients about their family physicians

Minister Health (5)Lahore: Punjab Minister for Health Khalil Tahir Sindhu has directed government hospitals to get information from the dengue patients about their family physicians or local doctor who had treated them before referring them to the hospital and get case history of the patients from the concerned doctor as it would be helpful in the treatment of dengue patients coming in serious condition. He directed that the case history of the patient and the name of general practitioners be also mentioned in the patient’ chart.

He said this while talking to media-men during his visit to Lahore General Hospital and Hameed Latif Hospital, here today.  The Minister, first went to Lahore General Hospital and inquired after the health of patients admitted in dengue ward. He also asked about the treatment facilities being extended to the dengue patients. All the patients expressed their satisfaction and informed that free medical facilities are being provided to the hospital. Principal PGMI/ LGH Prof. Anjum Habib Vohra,  Prof. Agha Shabbir, MS Dr. Amjad Shahzad and other senior doctors were also present on this occasion. Prof. Vohra informed that during the current season 81 confirmed dengue patients were brought to the hospital and at present only 7 patients are under treatment whereas the rest have been discharged after recovery. He said that no causality has occurred due to dengue in LGH. He informed that at present 20 probable while 7 confirmed patients are under treatment in LGH.

Khalil Tahir Sindhu said that due to delay in coming to the government hospital, the condition of dengue patients had been complicated and doctors faced difficulty in their treatment. Therefore, the instructions have been issued to contact the local doctor of the patient for getting case history from which the patient was under treatment before coming to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Khalil Tahir Sindhu also visited Hameed Latif Hospital and inquired after the health of dengue patients where only 3 patients are under treatment.   The administrator of Hameed Latif Hospital informed that 4 patients were under treatment out of them one has been discharged on November 7 and only three patients presently under treatment. Minister Health said that government has obtained the cooperation of private hospitals in the treatment of dengue patients and government will bear the treatment expenses of poor dengue patients admitted in private hospitals.
