Pakistan has no future sans education: Veteran trade leader Jahangir Akhtar

Lahore:  Veteran trade leader Jahangir Akhtar who started hunger strike recently ended on Thursday it due to non-cooperative attitude of the leaders of business community.

He had tried to convince the business community to pay from their pocket for the promotion of education which will help eradicate lawlessness and social evils.

 

Speaking at the occasion, he said that Pakistan’s society is going astray while intolerance has crossed all limits which are the earlier signs of a failed state.

He said that 25 million youth lacks opportunity to join schools, million are involved in child labour while tens of millions of illustrate cannot earn enough to feed themselves therefore falling prey to crimes.

Jahangir Akhtar said that rulers lack inclination or resources to turnaround situation therefore masses will have to help themselves to save their life and property and secure a prosperous future for next generations.

Government, he said, hasn’t been utilising human and resource potential while focusing on printing currency and getting loans which has made life of ordinary man very difficult.

Pakistan’s population would be 300 million by 2050 which will result in collapsed services and infrastructure which will put the existence of country at stake, he warned.

Only way to avoid the disaster is the arm youth with quality education for which whole society and business community in particular would have to sacrifice a small part of their income otherwise they would be on the mercy of criminals and terrorists with intolerant ideologies.
