One lakh kids would be provided clean drinking water :Governor Punjab

Lahore: One lakh kids studying in the public sector schools in Punjab will be provided with the facility of clean drinking water within the next two months with the collaboration of the Punjab government and the NGOs from Britain through installation of state of the art water filtration plants having Nano-filtration  and Reverse-osmosis technology. These water filtration plants will be capable of filtering 100 percent Arsenic and other heavy metals injurious to human health.

This was announced by the Punjab Governor Ch. Muhammad Sarwar while addressing to the participants of the ceremony held on the opening of newly installed water filtration plants at Darul Shafqat for boys and girls being run by Anjuman Hamayat-e-Islam, Lahore. Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and President Anjuman Hamayat-e-Islam Justice (R) Manzoor Hussain Sial also spoke on the occasion.Minister Education-1

Governor Punjab Ch. Muhammad Sarwar criticized the former martial law regime and disclosed that thousands of obsolete water filtration plants were installed in the province of Punjab eight years ago with the cost of billions of rupees but 80 percent of these obsolete plants are out of order today and the rest of these water filtration plants are useless due to neglect in their proper maintenance. These water filtration plants are not capable of filtering the deadly poison “Arsenic” from the potable water which may cause cancer to the human beings utilizing this so-called filtered water.  The Governor intended to hold inquiry against the purchasers of such water filtration plants of obsolete technology.

The Education Minister Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan announced on this occasion to formulate “Lahore Citizen Community Forum” to monitor the maintenance work of all water filtration plants installed in the metropolis. He informed the audience that all girls and boys schools in public sector will be provided with the missing facilities in the province of Punjab till next year. These missing facilities include clean drinking water, electricity, washrooms, boundary wall and additional classrooms.

He lauded the efforts of the Punjab Governor Ch. Muhammad Sarwar for his selfless meritorious services for the humanity and thanked Allah Almighty who has granted the people of Punjab another vibrant role model along with the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in the shape of the ruling party leadership.
