LHC Complaint Cell disposed of 80 notices on fast track

Lahore High Court, Complaint Cell has fetched fruitful response with the result that a fast-track disposal of 80 notices as the police reports under section 173 Cr.P.C. in the said cases has been submitted in the trial courts concerned and regular legal proceedings have been initiated to ensure dispensation of justice at every cost.

Complaint Cell took notice of 173 news items published in various daily newspapers till 31.10.2013. It takes action on administrative side against news reports of electronic and print media unfolding shocking human rights violations, particularly acid attack, gang rape, kidnapping for ransom, police torture and encounters etc, and directs the concerned District & Sessions Judges to look into the matter and submit detailed reports along with their own comments as to the steps taken by the police.

In compliance, the concerned District & Sessions Judges submitted requisite reports after interacting with the police. Upon comprehending the reports the District & Sessions Judges were directed to vehemently pursue these matters and  take action u/s 22-A & 22-B Cr.P.C. where law permits.

Remaining cases are being monitored vigorously. After going through the comments received by the Sessions Judges, they are further directed to issue appropriate instructions to police for prompt submission of fresh police report u/s 173 Cr.P.C.
