Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has impressed upon the government to shake off US slavery and go ahead with the implementation of the APC’s decisions.
In a statement here on Monday, he said, the government should announce stoppage of NATO supplies in order to save the country from turmoil. He said, if the government allowed the NATO supplies against the will of the nation, there would be chaos and disorder all over the country.
Syed Munawar Hasan said there seemed to be difference of opinion among the government circles on the issue of NATO supplies. However, he said, it would be better if the Prime Minister, instead of pleading the cause of the US, honoured his own commitment to the nation by announcing pulling out of the US war and stopping the NATO supplies.
He said that those who thought the US as Pakistan’s friend and well-wisher could still remain in delusion but the Pakistani nation could not be deceived any more. The US, he said, had always been Pakistan’s enemy and it won’t change its attitude towards this country even in future.
He said if thousands of people came on roads against NATO supplies, the government would find itself in trouble.
The JI Ameer said the process of dialogue with the Taliban could be continued if the government so desired. After Hakimullah Mehsud’s martyrdom, he said, the Taliban were furious and had deep hatred for a pro- US government but he hoped that they would not put the interest of the country and the Millat at stake.
Syed Munawar Hasan however said the government would have to explain why the drone attack took place at a time when the both sides were prepared for dialogue and an atmosphere of confidence was required. Was any intelligence passed to the US from our side, he asked. This was because Washington had repeatedly claimed that the drone attacks were made with Pakistan’s cooperation, he added.
The JI Ameer demanded that the control of the Shahbaz air base be resumed forthwith as it was no more possible for this country to cooperate with the US in the so called terror war.
