Punjab government is determined to hold local bodies elections on one party basis

Lahore: Jamaat e Islami’s deputy Secretary General, Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, has said the fresh delimitations of constituencies and other pre polls rigging clearly showed that the Punjab government was determined to hold local bodies elections on one party basis instead of non party basis.

In a statement here on Thursday, he urged the Chief Election Commission to intervene and take timely notice of the pre-poll rigging in different forms.

Dr Farid Piracha said if the PML (N) government in the Punjab had decided to hold polls on one party basis and also to ensure the success of its party candidate, at every cost, the Election Commission should not go for elections costing billions from the public exchequer. Instead, the list of the government party candidates should be called for and the success of all of them be notified.

The JI deputy Secretary General said, the Commissioners and other high officials had already turned partial to the extent that even the new delimitations were not being provided to any one.
