LHC sought report regarding death of a citizen in alleged police torture

Chief Justice LHC Lahore High Court has directed District and Sessions Judge, Faisalabad to send fresh police report u/s 173 Cr.P.C. in the trial court within three days regarding death of a citizen in alleged police torture so that the investigation could be concluded transparently.

According to details, Ali Raza Abad police raided a gambling den in Kaleem Shaheed Colony and tortured one Ghulam Rasool to death. After the incident, family of Ghulam Rasool staged a protest in Chohar Majra Chowk placing his dead body on road and demanded registration of case against ASI Waqas for killing the victim.

After cognizance of LHC Complaint Cell on administrative side D&SJ has submitted that Raza Abad police registered a case of the murder of Ghulam Rasool against ASI Muhammad Waqas and six unknown persons. Accused ASI Waqas had obtained interim pre-arrest bail from the court of Additional Sessions Judge. However, Investigation Officer has been directed to hold the investigation of said case fairly without having been prejudiced from the official status of the said accused.

Complaint Cell has directed concerned D&SJ to immediately comply with the orders regarding submission of police report within three days so that justice could be assured.
