Offcers to follow the timings :Chief Secretary Punjab

Lahore: Chief Secretary Punjab Javed Aslam directed all government officers to ensure discipline and follow official timings and after reaching their respective offices at 8:00am, they should keep the door of their offices open for the people at least till 9:00am, under open door policy, while no meeting should be conducted during that time. The Chief Secretary further directed provincial, divisional and district officers to chalk out a comprehensive action plan for implementation of Ramzan Package in order to enable the common man to garner its fruits. He informed that the government is providing a subsidy of Rs. 3.5 billion for provision of quality items at cheaper rates in Ramzan Bazars. He said that Utility Stores Corporation would also set up stalls at Ramzan Bazars for the convenience of the people.Chief Secretary gave these instructions while presiding over a joint meeting of Secretaries of all departments along with Divisional Commissioners at Civil Secretariat, here today.

Chief Secretary directed strict implementation of save energy policy and air-conditioners should not be turned on before 11:00 am in the offices. He said KPI and Performance Management Plan would be implemented to measure performance of all government departments, while all departments would be answerable with regard to their performance. Javed Aslam also directed Divisional Commissioners to ensure success of Ramzan Bazars by assigning responsibilities to the concerned DCOs, and also personally monitor Ramzan Bazars. He directed that rate lists of eatables at Ramzan Bazars should be prominently displayed and selling of everyday items at stipulated rates should be ensured. He directed divisional commissioners to personally monitor the performance of Price Control Magistrates and take strict departmental action against those displaying laxity.

The Chief Secretary also directed Secretaries and Commissioners to play their effective role in ensuring success of Anti-measles campaign launched by the Health Department along with the continuing steps for prevention of dengue disease. He ordered fool proof arrangements for taking preventive steps in view of possible floods, strict monitoring of embankments and dykes, besides ensuring prompt availability of relief to the people in time of need. He said government servants possess a lot of potential and capacity and they are fully capable of discharging their responsibilities in an amicable manner. The Chief Secretary informed that he would continue consultative meetings with Secretaries and Commissioners to ascertain performance of departments make planning for future needs and solve problems in this regard. He hoped that he would get complete cooperation of all officers to achieve targets set up by the government. The Chief Secretary was given detailed briefings by the Commissioners and the Secretaries regarding performance of their respective departments.
