Lahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said that in addition to psychological counseling, provision of other basic facilities should also be ensured for the women prisoners so that after completion of their sentences they could become useful citizens of the society.
She was talking to media during her visit to women jail Kot Lakhpat here today. Jail Superintendent Kamran and Director Women Development Department Moin Akhtar were also present on the occasion.
The Minister visited different sections of the jails and reviewed medical, educational and other facilities for the women prisoners. She stressed on the need for setting up of quality daycare centre for the children of women prisoners.
Hameeda Waheed ud Din also emphasized the need of imparting skills and training to the women prisoners with the consultation of concerned institutions. The Minister also inquired about the problems of the women. Later, the Minister visited Camp Jail and reviewed the facilities at the ladies waiting room. Jail Superintendent gave a briefing to the Minister about the facilities being provided to the visitors.
