Lahore: Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood has taken serious notice of poor and partial investigation of the case of an attempt to molest a three-year girl and summoned SP Investigation Gujranwala, SHO PS Sabzi Mandi, Investigation Officer and Moharar alongwith record on July 01.
Ombudsman Punjab took notice on the complaint of Mr. Shahid, a resident of Bakhtay wala, Gujranwala stating that his neighbor Nasir Tufail Butt tried to molest his three-year daughter. The locals immediately informed Police Station Sabzi Mandi and after a hectic effort, managed to get registered an FIR. According to complainant, Investigation Officer Sardar Naeem and SHO Police Station Sabzi Mandi, Akram Gill refused to arrest the accused and provided him full chance to flee from the area. Police took him in custody after 5 days after taking bribe and treated as VIP by not obtaining physical remand.
The SHO was provided a number of FIRs against accused, his father and brothers, registered in the same police Station but instead of acting as per law, he became angry and ordered the complainant to get out from his office.
According to the complainant, Investigation Officer kept the evidences in possession in presence of the witnesses but neither any sample of the accused is obtained for cross-matching nor the evidence is sent for DNA test even after the lapse of 11 months. Police is trying to destroy the prime evidence just to save the accused and uptill now has shown partiality in the process of investigation. The complainant has said that police also submitted incomplete record before the court just to weaken the case. He said such serious case is considered as crime against state and police is flouting the state in other words.
