More women police stations would be built: Hameeda Waheed

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development, Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said that separate police stations should be set up for women in various areas in ratio to their population for the solution of their problems.

 

 She expressed these views during her visit to first women police station, here today. Director Women Development Department Punjab Moeen Akhtar was also present on the occasion. The Minister visited various sections of the police station and enquired about the duties and problems of the staff. The Minister said that police station should be set up for women in separate building so that they should not face any problem. She said that government is utilizing all available resources to bring women into national mainstream while measures are also being taken for their welfare. She said that women are playing an active role for national development which is commendable.

The Minister said that she would constitute a committee comprising three women assembly members which would visit women police station and prepare a report after enquiring about the problems of women in light of which recommendations would be made to the government for the welfare of women. She said that women should have awareness about their rights and media can play an important role in this regard. The Minister also stressed the need for up-gradation of police station and capacity building of the staff.
