Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan and JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, have strongly condemned the brutal murder of tourists in Gilgit, and said the foreign, colonial power’s hand behind the tragedy could not be ruled out.
In a joint statement here on Sunday, they said that recurring terrorist activities in the country were a matter of deep concern, and asked whether the secret agencies of the country existed anywhere.
The JI leaders said that the presence of the US and India in Afghanistan was a threat to Pakistan’s solidarity. They said that from the very beginning, had been urging the government to pull out from the US’s so called war on terror in which the military dictator Pervez Musharraf had driven the country, adding that this alone could bring an end to terrorism in the country.
They said that the colonial powers had targeted not only Pakistan’s independence, sovereignty and solidarity, but also its economy and social structure, with a view to keeping this country as their dependent on them. They urged the government to review the foreign and domestic policies of the country keeping in view the nation’s accepted principles and also convene a national conference to discuss the security situation in the country.
