Recreational opportunities in Lahore Zoo are insufficient: Asif Bha Awan

Lahore:  Provincial Minister for Forests, Wildlife and Fisheries, Malik Muhammad Asif Bha Awan has said that the recreational opportunities and facilities in Lahore Zoo and Jallo Park are insufficient. He directed the senior officials of department to submit a comprehensive plan for further improving recreational facilities at these places.

He said this during his inspection to Lahore Zoo and Jallo Park today. Senior officials of all concerned departments accompanied him. Provincial Minister stressed upon the officers to provide maximum recreational facilities to the people visiting these places particularly take steps for the interest of children so that maximum people should visit these places and enjoy in real sense. He directed administration of Lahore Zoo to keep Zoo clean and the rates of eatables at cafeteria at reasonable level. He directed to pay special attention to the animals brought from cold countries for providing them best environment and food. He said that the administration of Lahore Zoo should particularly take care of birds and animals in cages.

Malik Muhamamd Asif Bha Awan was told that about 15 lakh people visit Jallo Park every year but due to insufficient funds, difficulties are being faced in administrative matters upon which the Minister directed to submit a feasibility report in this regard. Provincial Minister said that all possible steps would be taken for making Jallo Park a beautiful park with modern facilities. He said that protection of life and property of those visiting the park is responsibility of the administration and CCTV cameras should be installed besides proper light system on important points. He said that private sector should be motivated for investment for making Jallo Park the best recreational source so that people should visit in large numbers and the revenue should also be enhanced.

Malik Asif Bha also talked to the people visiting Lahore Zoo and Jallo Park and enquired from them about the arrangements in the park. He also assured implementation of the proposals put-forth by them.
