Lahore High Court on Wednesday took notice of the news published in a section of press highlighting an episode that step-son threw acid on his mother and aunt in suburban area of Jampur. District & Sessions Judge, Multan has been directed to probe into the matter and submit a detailed report regarding steps taken by the local police along with his own comments.
According to details, brother of Zahida Bibi, a resident of Tatarwala in Jampur told police that his sister was the second wife. He said after the death of her husband, her step-son, Ahmad used to mistreat her. He alleged that Ahmad would beat her up if she refused to give him money. Once on refusal, he left home and returned with two unidentified men. They beat Zahida Bibi and her sister Anila Bibi, who was visiting her, and threw acid on them and fled away. The injured women were taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital from where they were sent to Nishtar Hospital Multan. Both the women had 50% burns. Police registered the case but the accused have not been arrested so far. According to police, accused Ahmad is a drug addict and the incident happened due to property dispute between the assailant and the step-mother.
LHC Complaint Cell took serious notice of the news and directed the concerned D&SJ to look into the matter and submit report within a week positively.
