Police Ordinance 2002 needed amendments urgently:Shuja Khanzada

 Col (R)Shujah KhanzadaLahore: Provincial Minister for Environmental Protection and Chairman Police Reforms Committee Shuja Khanzada has said that there is an urgent need for amendments in Police Ordinance 2002 for the reorganization of police department, provision of prompt justice to the people and transformation of thana culture.

He was presiding over a high level meeting at Civil Secretariat, here today. Advisor to Chief Minister Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Jehanzeb Barki, Members Provincial Assembly, Secretary Home Shahid Khan and officers of concerned departments were present on the occasion.  Col Retd. Shuja Khanzada said that police force deputed on security will be separated from the ordinary force for immediate redressal of grievances of people and transformation of thana culture. He said that it will also help in early investigation and sending their challans to the courts. He said that police will be made the public service institution in the real sense. Provincial Minister directed police officers to submit proposals regarding necessary amendments in the Police Ordinance as soon as possible so that these could be sent to the Prime Minister for approval. He said that after approval from Prime Minister, these amendments will be presented in the assembly
