Lahore: Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood, has taken serious notice of poor and partial investigations of the case of an effort to molest a three-year girl, concealing the facts in police challan submitted to the court and open favour to the accused and has called for a reply from RPO Gujranwala on June 7.
According to the details, Shahid, r/o Bakhtewala, Gujranwala submitted an application to Ombudsman Punjab that his licentious neighbor Nasir Tufail Butt tried to molest his three-year daughter and the residents of the mohallah immediately informed police station Sabzai Mandi and after hectic efforts got registered FIR but the accused was not arrested despite remaining in the house for five days and the accused has been threatening to the family through various sources for stopping them from legal action. But after taking bribe, Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Sardar Naeem arrested the accused and treated him as VIP and instead of taking remand sent him jail whereas the accused, his brother and father were also nominated in various cases in police station Sabzi Mandi. Copies were also provided to the Investigation Officer and SHO and all accused have been visiting police station but police refused to take any action against them. According to the applicant, Investigation Officer Sardar Naeem and SHO police station Sabzi Mandi Akram Gill took the evidences in possession in presence of witnesses but both officers showed partiality and despite lapse of ten months and bribe, did not send these evidences for DNA test so far nor sample of the accused was taken for cross matching. Police also submitted incomplete record before the court and did not include the confessed statement of the accused duly verified by the witnesses but the police did not arrest the accused and he is continuously threatening. The applicant invited the attention of Ombudsman Punjab that the case of an effort to molest a minor girl is considered a crime against the state and the poor and partial investigation in that regard also tantamount to ridicule the state. Ombudsman Punjab has called for a report from RPO Gujranwala on June 7 and directed to dispose of this complaint on priority basis.
