JI leadership grieved over demise of Syrian scholar

Lahore: Eminent Syrian religious scholar Al Sheikh Zuhair Al Shawish, has expired , according to reports reaching Jamaat e Islami headquarters, Mansoora, on Tuesday,Al- Sheikh Zuhair Al Shawish had played a great role in the propagation of the Islam and the spread of Syed Abul Ala Maudoodi’s thought in the Arab world, The deceased who ranked among the senior leaders of the Ikhwanul Muslimoon of Syria, remained in different Gulf states during the tyrannical era of Hafez Al Asad, The deceased had set up a large publishing house for the propagation of Islamic literature especially the Hadith, Islamic history and Tafseer.

Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, JI deputy chief, Prof. Khurshid Ahmed, JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch and Foreign affairs chief of the JI, Abdul Ghaffar Aziz, have expressed deep grief over the sad demise of the distinguished Muslims scholar and said that in the death of Al Sheikh Zuhair Al Shawish, the Muslim world had lost a great scholar. They prayed for the departed s leader.
