Shahbaz Sharif asked newly elected MPs to lead in war against terrorism

shahbaz sharifLahore: Punjab Chief Minister-designate Shahbaz Sharif Wednesday asked newly elected MPs of PML-N to lead from the front and wage a war against terrorism and load shedding.

In a communiqué to the legislatures, he asked them to adopt austerity measures and help the PML-N government conserve resources so that sufferings of people due to an all-time high load shedding could be mitigated and their standard of living could be improved.

Excerpts from the communiqué are as follow:

“I congratulate you on the splendid victory in general elections. Your victory in fact reflects people’s allegiance to PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and their trust in the party’s manifesto. Similarly, the exceptional performance of our government in Punjab during the last five years has further elevated the level of people’s confidence in the PML-N.

First of all, we shall thank Allah for bestowing this landslide victory upon us. Let’s make a pledge that we will work for the uplift of Pakistan and well-being of our people beyond our personal interests. We all know that Pakistan is facing several crises, including terrorism and load shedding. We also know that we cannot overcome other menaces such as unemployment, inflation and poverty unless we curb terrorism and power cuts. You leadership is committed to coping with this situation and providing relief to people on a war footing. I hope that being representatives of public, you would lead from the front and wage a war against these crises. At a time when the country is experiencing worst ever load shedding, what is needed to rid people of power outages are huge funds along with commitment, pursuance and hard work. I expect you to adopt austerity measures and help the government conserve resources so that we can fight load shedding together. This is an established fact that the people of your constituencies deserve your attention and services the most. But sometimes, public representatives abandon their people, which is very unfortunate. I really hope that you won’t be among those people.

The poor and crisis-ridden people of Pakistan are in dire need of your good conduct and I hope that you will work day and night to alleviate their sufferings.

May Allah be with us always…

Sincerely yours

Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif

President, PML-N – Punjab”
