Lahore: Secretary Environment Punjab Sher Alam Mehsood has stressed the need for creating awareness among the people for rooting out the virus of dengue and measles. He said that every institution associated with public health will have to play its due role in this regard. He said that the war against dengue and measles cannot be won without participation of all segments of the society.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of anti-Dengue Committee at Wagha Town today. TMO Wagha Town and representatives of all concerned departments presented their weekly progress reports in the meeting. Sher Alam Mehsood said that all departments particularly Education, Health, WASA, Waste Management and Labour should accelerate their efforts for eliminating dengue. He said that the process of larve siding should be speeded up in junkyards, graveyards, roofs, ponds and streets of all areas.
Secretary Environment took serious notice of the absence of representatives of some departments. He directed to write a letter to the secretaries of concerned departments to call for explanation of the said representatives.
