Lahore: British High Commissioner, Adam Thomson called on Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Najam Sethi at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, here today. Matters of mutual interest, ongoing projects with the cooperation of Department for International Development (DFIF) for the uplift of social sector in the province and promotion of bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting. Head of DFID in Punjab, Tom Owen and acting Political Consular Jasper Thornton were also present on the occasion.
Talking to British High Commissioner Adam Thomson, Caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi said that deep friendly and historic relations existed between Pakistan and Britain. He said that Britain was an important trade partner of Pakistan. He said that the cooperation of UK for the improvement of education, health, and other sectors was commendable. The Chief Minister said that the joint ventures for the promotion of education, technical education, health and other social sectors with the collaboration of DFID in Punjab were continuing successfully. British High Commissioner Adam Thomson said that bilateral cooperation between UK and Pakistan was being promoted. He said that Britain gave great importance to the relations with Pakistan and wanted stability of democracy in Pakistan. He said that Britain would continue its cooperation for the development of Pakistan.
