Officials to speed up the activities for creating social awareness against dengue :Irfan Elahi

Lahore: Secretary Livestock Irfan Elahi has directed the administration of Emergency Response Committee Aziz Bhatti Town to speed up the activities for creating social awareness against dengue virus due to changing weather condition. He said that special steps should be taken for eliminating dengue larvae at indoor and outdoor places in the sensitive areas. He said that all possible resources are being utilized for eliminating dengue virus which aimed at ensuring the protection of precious human lives.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting against dengue at Cantt. Katchery, today. Assistant Commissioner Cantt. Nabeela Irfan, Tehsil Municipal Administrator Aziz Bhatti Town, officers of Health, Lahore Waste Management Company, WASA, Education, Social Welfare, Environmental Protection, Fisheries, PHA and other departments informed Secretary Livestock about the steps taken for eradication of dengue during last week. It was informed that besides fogging and spray of other chemicals at tyre shops, under-construction buildings, junkyards and parks, dengue awareness campaign is continuing with the cooperation of NGOs.

Secretary Livestock directed town administration to obtained data from diagnostic centers and private laboratories. He said that all departments should take emergent steps for eradication of dengue and strict surveillance of possible breeding places of dengue including junkyards, tyre shops and graveyards should be made. He said that new survey of such areas should be conducted where dengue was found during last year. He said that old tyres should be removed from tyre shops and action should be taken against tyre shops violating the instructions of entomologist.
