Lahore High Court on Wednesday took notice of the news published in a section of press regarding kidnapping and murder of a 9-year-old child. District & Sessions Judge, Bahawalpur has been directed to probe into the matter and submit a detailed report regarding steps taken by the local police along with his own comments.
According to details, Muhammad Zulfiqar, father of the deceased child, told that he is resident of suburb area of Bahawalpur. Zulfiqar said his son went missing and he went to the police station but the police registered the complaint hesitantly. He said, on the next day, the kidnappers called him and demanded for Rs. 3 million as ransom. Zulfiqar further revealed that he reported about the call to the police too and police arrested a suspect the next day but let him go two days later. And on the very next day, they found the child’s body in field in front of the police station. Zulfiqar said that he had named two suspects in the FIR but the police let both of them go and also refused to mention the ransom amount in the FIR. The family of deceased child staged a protest on the DCO Chowk Bahawalpur and said they would organize a stage-in on Khairpur Tamewali Road and would not return until police arrested the culprits.
LHC Complaint Cell took serious notice of the news and directed the concerned D&SJ to look into the matter and submit report within a week positively.
