Lahore:Rescuers have finally succeeded to control fire after 32 hours rescue work but it took 17 more precious lives.Rescuers continued their work atleast for 24 hours than they could be able to enter into the fifth floor. As the fire controlled ,the rescuers had another big challenge to work in the smoke that was darkening the sky.According to the DG rescue Dr Rizwan Naseer ,it was not their failure rather rescuers did a marvelous job despite restricted access to the building due to construction on one side and raised platforms and basement on other side. Furthermore, the ducting also caused rapid spread of smoke and fire in the building.
DG Rescue Punjab expressed his sorrow and grief over this sad incident and appealed the owners of high rise buildings to abide by building-by laws and building safety codes so that such incidents could be made avoidable in future. “These incidents are preventable if fire staircases, external exists, fire hydrants and fire alarms systems are installed inside and around the building,” he added.
