Punjab government announces public holiday on May 10

Lahore: Punjab government has announced public holiday on May 10, 2013 (Friday) in the province in connection with general elections to be held on May 11, 2013. A notification has already been issued in this regard.

This order will not apply to the departments / institutions providing essential services i.e. Health facilities, Food Department, Police, Rescue-1122, TMAs, WASA, SWMs etc and the staff of different departments, placed at the disposal of the Election Commission of Pakistan and deputed for Election duties.

Further, the notification will not apply on the private schools engaged in conducting examinations, subject to the condition that the duties assigned by the Election Commission of Pakistan to their staff, if any, are strictly observed and their premises, if designated as polling station, are provided for smooth conduct of elections.
