Security arrangements should be further improved: CM Punjab directs the administration

DSC_0723Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Najam Sethi has said that every possible step should be taken for further improving security arrangements and special attention should be paid to the internal
and external security of jails including sensitive places and electoral offices.

He said that foolproof security with regard to public meetings, processions and rallies should be ensured.

He expressed these views while presiding over a high level meeting held at Chief Minister’s Secretariat today for reviewing the law and order situation in the province. Provincial Home Minister Tariq Pervez, Chief Secretary, Secretary Home, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Inspector General Police Punjab, Additional IG Police and concerned officials attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister said that in view of the national and international situation, security arrangements should be further improved in the province and no mischievous element should be allowed to succeed in fulfilling his nefarious designs. He said that the intelligence sharing system between concerned institutions be made more effective.

Najam Sethi directed that the security plan evolved for coping with the challenge of ensuring peaceful and transparent general elections be implemented at all costs. The Chief Minister said that police should keep a vigilant eye at anti-social elements and suspected persons. He said that precautionary measures should be taken for checking any untoward incident. He said that members of the cabinet committee are reviewing the security arrangements personally by visiting various cities.

The Chief Minister was given a briefing about the law and order situation in the province during the meeting.
