Opponents are afraid of PML-N rising popularity:Shahbaz Sharif

Shahbaz Sharif2Lahore: Former Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif said Saturday that opponents of PML-N were afraid of its rising popularity and have, therefore, resorted to smear campaign against the party.

“TV ads containing fabricated content against PML-N is the joint venture of PPP, PTI and PML-Q,” Shahbaz told a public meeting in Sialkot. He said that people knew well that only the PML-N government in Punjab had worked for the rescue and rehabilitation of the flood-hit people.

The former CM alleged that Imran Khan had played the role of President Zardari’s spokesman by claiming that the president could not be held responsible for the current power crisis in the country. “There is every possibility that Imran Khan also exonerates the PPP from corruption scandals of railways, PIA, steel mills, NICL and rental power projects,” he said.

Shahbaz said that after coming to power, the PML-N government would transform Punjab Educational Endowment Fund into Pakistan Endowment Fund and the funding of the programme would be increased from Rs 10 billion to Rs 20 billion. He said that his Punjab government had carried out unprecedented development works during five years of its rule in the province.
