Masses to remember the performance of the past rulers:Munawar Hassan

Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has urged the masses to keep in mind the performance of the past rulers while exercising their voting right in the general elections.

Addressing a big public meeting at Mansehra on Thursday, he said, it would be naïve to expect a change by voting for the corrupt, the plunderers and cheats who were responsible for all the ills at present.

The masses have been suffering the most during the last five years, and if they have any sympathy for themselves, they should inflict a crushing defeat on the members of the past ruling parties and ensure that the securities of all such people were forfeited, he added.

Syed Munawar Hasan said that the election manifesto of Zardari and company was not one being projected through king size advertisements these days, as their actual manifesto was to loot public wealth and build palaces, adding that the Punjab rulers were equally to be blamed for the present ills including load shedding.

The JI Ameer again called upon the care taker Prime Minister to convene an APC to allay the fears about the postponement of the elections on the pleas of terrorism, stressing that the heads of security agencies and the armed forces should attend the moot and give a categorical assurance that polls would be held on time.

Syed Munawar Hasan said that former president Pervez Musharraf had plunged into a mire of ignominy and insult as had been the fate of every tyrant. He said that the former dictator had tried to promote the culture of cowardice but the nation did not accept that. Musharraf’s master, the US had been expecting that there was none to challenge its authority however the situation had changed and all US bastions were crumbling one by one.

He called upon the care taker government to shift Pervez Musharraf to the jail to establish that law was equal for all, and added that if the dictator was handcuffed and shattered, all those falling victim to his oppression would feel avenged.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Maulana Abdul Ma’lik, JI candidates Muhammad Younus Khattak, Dr Tariq Shirazi, Dr Muhammad Siddique Tanoli, and National Labour Federation president Shamsur Rahman Swati.
