Police sets up Special Cell for the Elections 2013

Lahore:  On the orders of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Aftab Sultan, the Special Cell set up in the Operation Branch of the Central Police Office (CPO) Punjab has been working to ensure proper implementation of the Code of Conduct for the Elections 2013 and to take immediate action against the violators.
In this regard, AIG (Operations) Ali Nasir Rizvi presented the second Monitoring Report to the IGP today about action taken against the violators of Code of Conduct on April 16 and 17 in different districts of the province.
According to the report, only one incident of aerial firing was reported in Okara district and 11 cases were registered against the violators on the charges of display of weapons including two cases in Chiniot, two in Gujranwala, two in Narowal, two in Gujrat, one in Hafizabad, and two Mandi Bahauddin districts.
At least 18 cases of illegal weapons were also reported in different districts including six in Chiniot, six in Sheikhupura, two in Gujrat, two in Bhakkar, one in Gujranawala and one in Nankana districts.
The police reported a total of 30 cases against the violators of code of conduct in 10 districts of the province including eight in Chiniot, six in Sheikhupura, one in Nankana, three in Gujranwala, two in Narowal, four in Gujrat, two in Mnadi Bahauddin, one in Hafizabad, two from Bhakkar and one case in Okara district. The police arrested 32 people in these cases including eight from Chiniot, six from Sheikhupura, one from Nankana, three from Gujranwala, five from Narowal, four from Gujrat, two from Mnadi Bahauddin, one from Hafizabad, and two from Bhakkar district.
The police took action and recovered 33 arms from their possession including 9 pistols, 9 rifles, six guns and one Kalashnikovs, one repeater, two automatic guns besides 2375 bullets and 137 shells.
Similarly, in the total the police recovered eight weapons from Chiniot, one from Nankana, six from Sheikhupura, three from Gujranwala, five from Narowal, four from Gujrat, two from Bhakkar, two from Hafizabad and two from Mandi Bahauddin districts.
