Lahore: Chief Secretary Punjab, Javaid Iqbal has said that unscheduled loadshedding should be ended immediately in the province and loadshedding schedule be observed. He said that federal government will be contacted for overcoming the situation of worst loadshedding in Punjab.
He expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting for reviewing the loadshedding situation in Punjab at Civil Secretariat today. Additional Chief Secretary, Secretaries Energy, Home, Housing, Industries, Agriculture, Labour, Information, Commissioner Lahore and heads of power distribution companies attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Secretary Punjab stressed that the increasing loadshedding should be controlled immediately and the duration of loadshedding be minimized. He said that effective steps should be taken to check wastage of electricity and saving electricity by utilizing resources properly. He said that loadshedding of electricity will be reduced in the province due to two holidays in a week. Javed Iqbal said that provision of electricity should be ensured to industries in big cities particularly Faisalabad and Gujranwala so that industries could be saved from loss. He directed WASA officers to make arrangements of generators for ensuring provision of potable water to the citizens during loadshedding. He said that such steps should be taken for providing electricity as could help provide immediate relief to the consumers. The meeting discussed loadshedding situation and various proposals regarding saving electricity. Heads of power distribution companies gave briefing on loadshedding situation in the meeting.
