Lahore: Provincial Minister for Environment and Industries, Arif Ejaz has said that environment pollution is a global problem and we will have to work unitedly to overcome it. This issue can be resolved by creating public awareness, he added.
He expressed these views while leading a walk about vehicular pollution awareness which started from Liberty Chowk and concluded at Hafeez Center Gulberg. Secretary Environment, DG Environment, officers of Environment and Transport departments and a large number of office-bearers of Rickshaw Union were present on the occasion. The Minister said that the owners of public transport, rickshaws, motorcycles and other vehicles will have to adopt environment friendly principles for saving the environment from noise and environmental pollution.
He said that civilized societies are implementing a comprehensive policy for controlling environmental pollution and Pakistan will also have to take solid measures to cope with this world problem. He said that the aim of the walk is to create awareness among the people about environmental pollution and launching a campaign for imposing a ban on two stroke rickshaws, unregistered transport, pressure horns and smoke emitting vehicles.
