Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that President Zardari’s claim of having strengthened democracy in the country, was the biggest lie of the century and rubbing salt on the wounds of the people.
Democracy means to deliver, and service of the masses whereas Zardari and his gang had been busy in loot and plunder, amassing billions for their coming generations while the masses were deprived of even two times meals, he said in a press statement here on Thursday.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that for Zardari, the mere completion of the five year term of his government meant strength of democracy but this was his personal view. He said that during the Zardari rule, the plight of the common man worsened with very passing day while the rulers minted billions through all possible means. Corruption scandals of the rulers surfaced every other day and even the NAB chairman had to admit that there had been corruption of Rs. 12 to 15 billions daily in the public sector.
The JI Ameer said that the Zardari regime kept on ridiculing the judiciary and blatantly refusing to comply with its orders. The country’s sovereignty was comprised by to please the US. All important national institutions were destroyed. The country’s industry and agriculture were ruined and thousands of industrial units were closed due to energy crisis.
The rulers minted millions in the Rental power scandals while the workers were rendered jobless. He said that the Zardari regime obtained foreign loans amounting to trillions, the bulk of which was transferred to the personal accounts of the rulers while the burden fell on the ordinary citizen. According to secret agencies reports, the Zardari government had been the most corrupt government in the country ‘s history, he added. Thousands of Jiyalas were stuffed in government departments by way of nepotism, adding undue burden to the institutions and billions were doled out to the PPP men in the name of Benazir income Support programme.
The JI Ameer said that the masses were fully awakened and could not be hoodwinked through such statements of Zardari and his gang.
