Lahore: The Lahore High Court takes notice of news items published in various dailies on 02.04.2013 regarding two incidents at Lahore and Rawalpindi in which some angry lawyers locked up the judicial officers in their courtrooms. District and Sessions Judges, Lahore and Rawalpindi have been directed to look into the matter and submit detailed reports along with names of the lawyers who locked the court rooms within three days.
According to details Vice President of Lahore Bar Association Irfan Basra along with his colleagues appeared before Judicial Magestrate Model Town, Lahore, Amir Nazir Awan in a bail matter. His bail plea was dismissed. On this Irfan Basra and his companions got infuriated and locked the magistrate in his court room. On this incident the judges had stopped their work.
Similarly, a group of Rawalpindi lawyers locked Muhammad Aslam Gondal, an Additional District Sessions Judge, inside his courtroom for more than two hours. Lawyer Hasnain Chohan came to the court to get a stay order in a civil case. Due to late hearing of the case, Advocate Chohan first exchanged harsh words with the ASJ and then locked him. After failing to convince them to open the room, ASJ Gondal managed to leave from a back door.
Lahore High Court Complaint Cell after going through the news items has directed the concerned Sessions Judges to send their with names of the lawyers who locked the court rooms within three days positively.
