Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister, Najam Sethi has taken immediate notice of tense situation arising due to a clash between two groups in Gujranwala area and directed the district administration and police to control the situation. He said that the situation should be handled in a proper manner and all necessary precautionary measures should be taken for the maintenance of law and order in the area.
The Chief Minister said that strict action should be taken against the persons responsible as well as police officials showing negligence in this regard. On the instructions of Chief Minister, the district administration and police officers rushed to the spot.
The Chief Minister said that Islam gives the message of tolerance, forbearance and brotherhood as well as grants freedom to the followers of all religions to lead their life in accordance with the teachings of their religion. However, some unscrupulous elements want to disrupt law and order in the country but nefarious designs will not be allowed to succeed and law and order will be ensured, he added. He said that effective steps would be taken by utilizing all resources in this regard.
