Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that Pervez Musharraf was a national criminal and it was the responsibility of the government and the judiciary to bring him to book for his crimes.
The entire nation had been demanding that the man behind the Lal Masjid tragedy, the bloodshed of hundreds of Jamia Hafsa girl students, the murder of Nawab Akbar Bugti and the killings going on Karachi, Balochistan and FATA must be made an example, and this demand could not be ignored, he said while addressing a corner meeting in his constituency, on Monday.
Liaqat Baloch said the nation asked the Chief Justice, Supreme Court, Iftekhar Muhammad Chaudhary, as to why the people behind the target killings in Karachi and the bloodshed on 12th of May, 10th of April, 12th of Rabi ul Awwal, were still roaming about freely.
Liaqat Baloch offered himself for accountability. He said, had he desired, he would have been the Speaker of the National Assembly during the Musharraf rule but he did not go against his conscience.
He further said that he had been elected MNA thrice and he had been raising the voice for the minorities and the oppressed people in the house.
