Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the future and survival of Pakistan is linked with general elections. He said that these elections tantamount to saving and making the country. He said that such people should not be brought in caretaker setup as would make the election doubtful and people have no confidence in elections.
He said this while to talking Pakistan Muslim League-N leaders Samiullah Khan and Uzma Bukhari today. Matters relating to welfare programmes, development projects of Punjab and the forthcoming elections were discussed in the meeting. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that unanimous strategy is essential for holding general elections in a transparent manner and such persons should be nominated as caretaker prime minister and chief ministers for the provinces who are eligible for these offices. He said that instead of bringing chief ministers of own choice through one sided action in Sindh and Balochistan, able and honest personalities should be selected through wide range consultation process.
He said that PML-N is in favour of holding elections in the country on the same day. He said that PML-N has set a practical example of meaningful consultation in connection with caretaker setup and has proposed the names of able personalities having good repute for caretaker setup upon which the entire nation is in unison. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government of PML-N has served the masses with sincerity during last five years.
That is why it has become the most popular party of the country and will get thumping success in the general elections. He expressed the hope that besides center, PML-N will also form the governments in all provinces and rid the country of problems like poverty, price-hike, unemployment and shortage of energy.
