Lahore: The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has envisaged an ambitious plan of educating the poor out of school children who didn’t attend any formal schooling due to their abject poverty and lack of necessary resources. Under this plan, the foundation shall arrange education of as many as four million such children during the next five years in the province through partner schools so that these children could earn their livelihood in an honorable way after completing their studies.
This was stated by Chairman Punjab Education Foundation, Raja Muhammad Anwar while addressing the district coordination meeting of PEF partner schools of district Okara at Renala Khurd today.
Addressing the foundation, the PEF Chairman said that under this program, students shall also be offered free technical and skilled based education to further improve their economic prospects. He said that at present, 1.3 million deserving students are enrolled in various educational programs of PEF in different districts and after this expansion, the total number of beneficiary students shall increase to 5.3 million in the province. Terming this initiative as the biggest service to humanity, he observed that education is an important milestone in achieving self-reliance and prosperity. Education is the fundamental right of every child and the society should take practical steps to provide this right to every child at his doorstep, he concluded.
DCM was also addressed by partner school owners and principals who presented various proposals for the expansion of PEF model of public private partnership at the grassroots to educate the poor and needy children.
