PPP to respond democratically to PML-N drama: Kaira

Lahore: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira has said the Pakistan Peoples Party would democratically respond to the undemocratic act of the PML-N of “defections.”

Talking to a private TV channel on Saturday, he said the PML-N had rejoined the Members of Punjab Assembly who had earlier left the party and joined the PML-N 18 months ago.He alleged the PML-N had staged the drama in response to the Lahore visit of President Asif Ali Zardari, adding the MPAs who had joined the PML-N supported the party during senate elections against PPP candidate Ch Aslam Gill.

Kaira said the PPP believed the PML-N was violating the charter of democracy and it was forcing assembly memebers to change their affiliation.He said it had proved the PML-N government in Punjab dependent on turncoats and its government could not have sustained if it had not bought affiliations of turncoats of the PML-Q.

He termed the political approach of the PML-N undemocratic and said the PPP would face it democratically.
