Lahore: Central leader of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif MNA has said that metro bus system project is a unique project of provision of latest traveling facilities to the people and has been completed at a cost of Rs. 30 billion in a short period of only eleven months. He said that this project will not only provide modern, affordable and comfortable transport facilities to the commuters but will also be an example for other cities.
He expressed these views while presiding over a high level meeting held to review technical aspects of metro bus system at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, here today. Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Members Provincial Assembly Kh. Imran Nazir, Hafiz Mian Nauman, Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmed, Managing Director Metro Bus System Sibtain Fazal Haleem, Director General LDA Ahad Khan Cheema, Commsioner Lahore Division Jawad Rafique Malik, Secretary Transport, Chairman LTC Kh. Ahmed Hassan, CTO Sohail Ahmed and others were present. Addressing on the occasion, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that a huge amount has been spent on metro bus system and the aim of this project is to provide best traveling facilities at a low cost to the people facing price-hike. He appealed to those traveling on metro bus to protect this asset and avail this facility with discipline. He said that it is the national and moral responsibility of the people to keep these buses neat and clean.
Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that a modern transport system has been launched for the benefit of the masses. He said that this great infrastructure is the asset of the nation. He said that plying of these latest buses of the world in Pakistan is a matter of pride. He said that metro bus system has been hailed at international level. He said that undoubtedly metro bus service is a splendid project in transport sector and the fact that lakhs of people have travelled by these buses within two days, has proved its importance. He said that confidence of the people in this project is a reflection of its success. He said after the introduction of new culture of transport, a disciplined way of traveling will also have to be adopted. He said that people traveling by metro bus should prove to be civilized citizens. He said that Punjab government has launched a campaign for the guidance of the passengers and it is need of the hour that elected representatives should remain present at every bus station in order to avoid any unpleasant incident.
