Lahore: Chief Secretary Punjab, Nasir Mehmood Khosa has directed all divisional commissioners and officials of health department to utilize all out resources for controlling the disease of measles in the province. He said that a foolproof surveillance be evolved for this disease so that if there is any case of measles in any area, it could immediately be reported. The Chief Secretary further directed that district coordination officers and other officers of district administration should monitor the MOP UP campaign in the affected areas launched by health department for controlling this disease.
He issued these directions while presiding over a meeting of all divisional commissioners in connection with controlling the disease of measles today. Secretary Health Punjab, Arif Nadeem, DG Health Nisar Cheema, Director Health (EPI) Dr. Tanveer Hussain and representative of WHO Dr. Wende attended the meeting.
Nasir Mehmood Khosa directed the health department that isolation wards should immediately be set up for measles patients in all government hospitals so that they could be kept separate from other patients. He said that all concerned officers should work devotedly and efficiently for controlling this disease and ensure provision of medicines to the measles patients in the hospitals. He said that the provincial monitors appointed at district level should effectively monitor the MOP UP campaign and surveillance of measles and kept control room set up in the health department’s headquarters completely informed about the cases of measles on daily basis. He warned that no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.
