Begum Zakiya chairs Gender Reforms Action Programme’s meeting

Lahore: Advisor to Chief Minister Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz presided over a meeting of the mainstreaming committee of the Gender Reforms Action Programme (GRAP) at 8-Club Road, here today. Secretary Women Development Irum Bukhari as well as representatives of Law, Home, Education, Health, Finance and S&GAD attended the meeting which reviewed the performance of GRAP.
Addressing the meeting, Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz said that the objective of GRAP is to eliminate gender discrimination and restore the due status of women in the society. She said that welfare of women is being given the top priority in the development projects of the government and a solid foundation has been laid for their social, legal and economic protection under the women’s package. She said that the government wants to empower women economically and the measures taken for their benefit are being appreciated at every level. Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz lauded the performance of Provincial Secretary Irum Bukhari for the implementation of the women’s package and the keen interest being taken by her for women’s development
