Lahore: The spokesman of Punjab Food Department has said that Punjab government increased the price of 40kg wheat from Rs.1075 to Rs.1125 on January 5, 2013 and fixed the price of 20kg flour bag at Rs.670.
He said that flour is available in abundance in all districts of the province. The spokesman while strongly contradicting the news item regarding shortage of flour appearing in a section of print and electronic media, said that such baseless and concocted news items are creating unrest and anxiety among the people.
The spokesman of Punjab Food Department has said that Food Department is providing two lakh 60 thousand bags of wheat on daily basis to the flour mills of the province and seven lakh 80 thousand 20 kg flour bags in the market on daily basis. He said that 20kg flour bag is available to the people for Rs.660 to Rs.670 and there is no shortage of flour in the market. He further said that Food Department is ensuring availability of flour at reasonable rate to the consumers.
He said that in case of any complaint, not only action is being taken against the persons responsible as per rule but necessary steps are also being taken for resolving the problem.
