Lahore: Member National Assembly, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif has said that . He said that education is the only difference between democratic and undemocratic countries. He said that Punjab government has opened the doors of modern education including IT for the youth and has laid the foundation of educational revolution in the province through its programmes like Daanish schools, setting up of Endowment Fund and distribution of laptops on merit.
Hamza Shahbaz Sharif expressed these views while addressing introductory ceremony regarding launching of classes in IT University at Arfa Karim IT Center, here today. Chairman IT Board Punjab Dr. Umer Saif, Advisor to Chief Minister Zakiya Shahnawaz, Special Assistant on High Education Zaeem Qadri and a large number of male and female students were present on the occasion. Hamza Shahbaz said that Pakistan is lucky that majority of its population comprise of youth however it is up to the government how it utilizes their talent. He said had the amount spent by Pakistani rulers for the elimination of terrorism been used for the promotion of education, our youth instead of becoming terrorists would have become an effective weapon against terrorism.
Hamza Shahbaz said that our neighbouring countries while learning a lesson from their past experiences have promoted democratic norms but we are still groping in the dark and that is why we as a nation facing different problems. He said that our IT experts and students have shown outstanding performance especially for elimination of dengue by using IT technology. He said that 150 research institutions and 100 universities of the country augers well for the future. He hoped that our youth equipped with latest knowledge will prove to be harbinger of positive democratic changes in Pakistan.
Addressing the ceremony, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Higher Education Zaeem Hussain Qadri said that despite financial constraints, Punjab government has displayed its commitment to promotion of education by launching IT classes in the university. He said that the students of first session of this institution deserve appreciation and it is hoped that they will bring a good name to the country.
