Metro bus service project is soon to be completed:CM Punjab

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that those elements who are now criticizing public welfare projects did no practical work during their rule, but looted the national exchequer and resources in the name of development projects. He said such elements are now irritated over the public welfare projects launched for the benefit of the common man. He announced that the great CM PUNJAB 1 at a cost of Rs.30 billion, which will provide best travelling facilities to the citizens and its opponents would be defeated. He said Punjab government has spent maximum resources to provide facilities to the masses. He said people, throughout the province, have been provided relief through the speedy completion of development works. He said Model Town Underpass has been completed in a record time which is exemplary in terms of its quality, transparency and architecture.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of Model Town Underpass and talking to the media representatives, here today. Special Assistant Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Chairman Lahore Transport Company Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan, Members Assembly Pervaiz Malik, Ramzan Siddique Bhatti, Hafiz Mian Nauman, Dr. Saeed Elahi, Secretary Communication & Works, Director General LDA, MD Metro Bus Authority, authorities of NLC and NESPAK as well as people of the area attended the function.

Congratulating the citizens over the successful completion of Model Town Underpass project, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that it is the best gift for the people by the Punjab government on the auspicious day of Friday, which will prove to be another milestone in its development projects. He informed that Model Town Underpass project has been completed, at a cost of Rs.50 crore, in a record time which will streamline the flow of traffic and provide facilities to the citizens. He said metro bus project is the most important development project in the history of transport and will result in significant change in the transport culture. He said metro bus project is aimed at providing comfortable, affordable and safe travelling facilities to the people. He said those elements who are now criticizing our development projects were themselves involved in corruption during their own rule, but are now feeling pain as to why the Punjab government of Pakistan Muslim League-N is expeditiously completing welfare-oriented projects for the common man. He said, due to metro bus project, the journey of hours would be covered in minutes and the common man would reach his destination on time. He said day and night work is continuing on the project and soon metro buses would be plying on it. Congratulating Secretary C&W, NESPAK, DG LDA and contractors, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the efforts of CTO Sohail Ahmad are also laudable to keep the traffic flowing during the construction of the underpass. The Chief Minister said that he is also thankful to the elected representatives who are playing their effective role in timely completion of development projects like Model town Underpass.

Responding to various questions by media representatives, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was the founder of Pakistan, whose great services can never be forgotten by the Muslims of the subcontinent in getting a separate homeland. He said separate homeland acquired by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for the Muslims of the subcontinent is an unprecedented achievement in the history. Regarding a question about Altaf Hussain’s statement on Quaid-e-Azam, the Chief Minister said that no person can belittle the great personality of Quaid-e-Azam Muhamamd Ali Jiannh who is revered and respected by the whole nation. He said that he has felt grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of innocent people in Balochistan, Swat and Karachi. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif also expressed grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of senior reporter and cameraman of Samaa TV. He said that yesterday was the worst day in the history of Pakistan. He said Pakistan has been enveloped in wave of terrorism as extremist elements want to destabilize the country, but we would foil their nefarious aims collectively.

Later, the Chief Minister unveiled the plaque of Model Town Underpass and inspected the project. He passed through the Model Town Underpass after its inauguration. A large number of citizens and workers of PML-N were also present on the occasion.
