March drama being enacted to postpone general elctions:Shahbaz Sharif

Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has said that democracy was restored in the country after a long struggle and sacrifices by all segments of the society, but a few imported politicians are now trying to derail the country from its democratic path. He said the people have become fully aware of the nefarious designs of such elements as have an imported agenda and their efforts would be foiled. He said that holding of timely general elections is highly essential for the solidarity and security of the country, as any delay could be disastrous. He said that “March Drama” is being enacted to delay general elections. He said that the country is faced with serious problems at internal and external levels, and it cannot afford any anarchy. He said the imported elements want to create chaos, however, Pakistan Muslim League-N, with the support of the people, would foil the conspiracy against general elections.

These views were expressed by Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while talking to Members Assembly belonging to various districts, here today. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the country is passing through a critical phase and is confronted with problems like terrorism, loadshedding, unemployment, ignorance and other issues, which can only be solved through general elections. He said incompetent rulers of Islamabad have resorted to loot and plunder in the country and he has been raising voice from the very first day against corrupt mafia. He said those who have come back to the country, suddenly, after six years, living luxuriously abroad, are now talking about change and revolution but behind this there is only chaos. He said the imported elements have come, not for change, but to destroy democracy, however the nation would foil their nefarious aims. He said what type of revolution is being brought about by having looters and thieves in their ranks. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that change in the country is only possible through general elections. He said the incompetent rulers of Islamabad have pushed back the country 50 years, during their five years’ long rule. He said that loot and plunder was order of the day in the garb of reconciliation, while national institutions were destroyed. He said Zar Baba Forty Thieves have filled their own pockets but people have been deprived of gas, electricity, health and educational facilities. He said corrupt rulers have deprived the people of basic amenities through their worst governance, while the energy crisis is reflective of rulers’ bad deeds and loot and plunder, due to which lakhs of workers have been left unemployed. He said people want to get rid of Zar Baba Forty Thieves and would bury corruption in general elections, through the power of their votes. He said he believes firmly that an honest and dedicated leadership would emerge as a result of general elections.

Shahbaz Sharif said PML-N has promoted culture of transparency and merit in the province, setting an example for the other provinces. He said PML-N has acquired massive success in bye-elections due to its good governance and service to the people. He said PML-N is equally popular in all the four provinces. He said that the opponents of PML-N are afraid of its increasing popularity and are looking for excuses to escape from general elections. However, he said, those who were conspiring against democracy would be badly defeated. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif called upon Members Assembly to keep a close liaison with the people, and play their effective role in ensuring timely and transparent completion of development works so that people can benefit from the steps taken by the government.
