Punjab’s steel mills are being closed due to energy crises:Pervaiz Raseed

Lahore: Senator Pervaiz Rashid and have said that discriminatory attitude is being meted out to the steel mills of Punjab regarding provision of electricity due to which not only a large number of steel mills are being closed but thousands of labourers are also facing unemployment. They reiterated that this vindictive attitude towards steel mills of Punjab will not be tolerated at all and demanded the federal government to ensure provision of electricity to the steel mills of Punjab like other provinces.

They expressed their views during a meeting with the representative delegation of steel mills of Lahore, here today which apprised them of the injustice being made to the steel mills of Punjab with regard to provision of electricity.

Senator Pervaiz Rashid and Rana Sanaullah said it is highly lamentable that electricity is being provided to the steel mills of Sindh and other provinces whereas steel mills of Punjab are being victimized. They said that injustice was also made with regard to provision of electricity to the people of Punjab in summer season upon which the Chief Minister had raised voice against the discriminatory attitude by participating in the protest along with the people. They assured owners of steel mills and labourers of their full cooperation and demanded the federal government to immediately end the discriminatory attitude with steel mills of Punjab and ensure provision of electricity to these mills like other provinces so that the labourers could not be deprived of their livelihood.
