PMS wants unconditional apology from young doctors

Lahore: Reference were held in all districts of Punjab to condemn the Gujranwala incidence, and the resolution that no one will be allowed to touch the senior doctors was unanimously passed, they demanded that if the young doctors wants unconditional apology for their act then we can consider to review the stance on this issue.

Addressing the emergent meeting of the provincial council on the current issue, General Cadre Doctors Association (GCDA) Punjab, president dr Masood Akhtar sheikh announced that black day will be observed through out Punjab to condemn this inhumane act. During black day the senior doctors will work with black ribbon. He said that the strategy will be devised to aovid such incidence in future, and will soon be made public. GCDA announced that 15 members committee has been formulated headed by Dr Aslma Hameed , AMS PIC, assisted by Dr Rana Rafque, dr Asim Farroqui , Dr Amir Nazeer, Dr Asad Abbas shah ,dr ejaz Warriach, dr Shahid Choohan, dr Liaqat Warriach, Dr Adil, Dr Arif Iftikhar, Dr malik Riaz and other to make its recommendation in this regard to be presented in next provincial council meeting.

Dr Masood sheikh said that such incidence are creating a bad image of Pakistani doctors in international community and may create obstacle for Pakistani doctors seeking higher education abroad, he suggested that a chapter of medical ethics should be incorporated in the curricula, to improve the behavior of the doctors. He stressed that doctors belong to a noble professional and the medic were given due respect even in the prehistoric eras, but unfortunately some peoples wants to spoil the image of the profession, which will not be allowed any more.

Dr Asim farooqui said that the incidence could have easily been avoided by resorting to a peaceful discussion across the table, he said that if our young colleague have some reservation regarding the seniors then there are many ways to sort them out, but opting such action is uncalled-for. Dr asim farooqui said that we strongly condemns this act, and we condemns that targeting senior doctors of the general cadre will not be tolerated any more and any strike on this issue will not be entertained. The resolution announced that the general cadre doctors will not be involved in any kind of strikes and the OPD of whole of the province will be open, providing proper health care facilities to the patients coming to the tertiary care hospital. Further more there will be no strike in Tehsil and district hospital of the province.

Dr Arif Iftikhar said that it is highly unjustified that the start of a new year is disgraceful, the general cadre doctor have finally resorted to protect the dignity and glory of the profession. He added that these elements have no links with the doctor’s community, and we do not accept any responsibility for their act, rather we strongly condemn it. He added that now the responsibility lies on the shoulder of doctor to protect the image. General secretary Dr Rana Rafique, Dr Asad Abbas shah, Dr Asim farooqui, , Dr Arif Iftikhar, Dr Ejaz Warriach, Dr Shahid, Dr Aslam Hameed, Dr Alia, Dr shazia, Dr Muhammad Arif, Dr Shahid Choohan, Dr Muhammad Gulzar, Dr Mahmood Shaukat, also spoke on the occasion.
