Economy cannot grow without making farmer prosperous:Ch Shujaat Hussain

Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League President Senator Ch Shujat Hussain has said that agriculture sector plays important role in the growth of national economy, dream of agricultural development cannot be realized without making the farmer prosperous, electricity is provided free in India for agricultural purposes, for growth of national economy and agriculture in particular relief will have to be given to the farmers of Punjab.

He said while addressing a press conference along with Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed at the Muslim League House here today. On this occasion, Pakistan Kissan Ittehad President Ch Muhammad Anwar, Muhammad Shah Khagga, Ch Imtiaz Ahmad Ranjha, Mrs Farrukh Khan, Mustafa Malik, Rizwan Sadiq Khan, Zubair Khan, Mrs Sultan Gul, Raja Imtiaz, Dr Raj Shaheen, Fayyaz Tabussum and other leaders were also present. Ch Shujat Hussain said that PML will raise voice for the farmers on every forum. Replying to a question, Ch Shujat Hussain said that elections will be held on scheduled time and there is no truth in reports regarding delay in the elections.

PML Secretary General Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed said that PML govt had taken special measures for the development of agriculture and will talk to the Prime Minister also now for the solution of the farmers problems. He strongly condemned the attacks on Polio teams and said that the entire nation in unison should play its role for the eradication of polio. He said all political parties today have signed a joint declaration in this regard.

Pakistan Kisaan Ittehad President Ch Muhammad Anwar said that WAPDA has crossed all limits and our income has been reduced to half, subsidy on tube-wells has been withdrawn and electricity rates have been increased 100 per cent. He said instead of making the farmer prosperous, he is being destroyed, due to no timely rain crop has been decreased to half, bills for Punjab should be charged according to the flat rate of Balochistan.
